It’s a teepee party…

MBN-teepee-greenSo I’ve finished my big project and proud to say that Made By Nanny teepees are now officially here and available.

I started with the plan to just make a pretty little one for the girls to use in the garden over the summer but after finding all that lovely fabric shown in my previous posts, I’ve ended up with three big ones.  And the girls, both big and small, are loving them.

Firstly is the original pink and green floral teepee which was made for Little G, and is beautifully girly and pretty.  This looks so lovely in the garden surrounded by the flowers and trees.  I also made matching bunting.

I’ve had an idea…

IMG_5700 I’ve had an idea for a new sewing challenge.  I keep seeing all this lovely fabric and printed material in the sewing room and my local haberdashery, I just know that I have to make something a bit special with it.

I’ve decided that I will give making teepees a go, they seem to be in the current ‘in thing’ for little ones and to be honest they do look very good in baby nurseries and playrooms.  I’m hoping that the weather holds out and the grandchildren get to use them in the garden mainly as they are perfect for the summer.

On a sensible side, they are very easy to fold and put up and away again.

So fingers crossed, here goes, two teepees coming up!  Looking forward to sharing the final outcomes in the next day or so.

A little sundress…

IMG_4983We were lucky enough to recently have a family holiday to the south of France, all my girls and their other halves and of course my gorgeous grandgirls, so I thought I would have a go at making them some little sundresses to wear around the pool and on those warmer days.

So the knitting needles got a short break while I put my sewing machine to work.  I had bought some broderie anglaise fabric to use on a previous trip to Dubai and got started.  I wanted the dresses to be simple little things that could be easily slipped on and off so didn’t worry too much about making a complicated pattern, and was very pleased with the outcome.

IMG_4982The dresses were a great hit with my girls – the mums, and their girls – the granddaughters, and were used whenever the sun was shining.

This is Little M enjoying the sunshine in hers, with a very happy Nanny.

A basket full of possibilities…

IMG_5463After those first few cardigans were completed I knew that I would want to keep going and knit until I couldn’t knit anymore… which hopefully is a long time off yet.  There’s so much pleasure being able to make something from scratch, a simple ball of wool, and even more when making it for two gorgeous little granddaughters.

I’ve been using wools that are a mix of cotton and linen which add a lovely quality to the garments and I think the girls find them far more comfortable.

So due to the lovely rain yesterday I had a little sort out of my wool basket and found these beautiful dusky pinks and greys to get going on my next project.
